“We’re trying to improve the viewing experience for our customers, and unfortunately, this required discontinuing support for the MAC and Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 PC apps,” @SlingAnswers, the service’s Twitter customer service page, tweeted yesterday.

Sling advises Mac owners, and PC users using older versions of Windows, to download the latest version of Google Chrome, which will enable them to watch the Chrome Chrome browser player at Sling.com.

However, that’s cold comfort for some Mac and PC users who have voiced their concerns at social media sites.

“Bah, terrible decision! Why are you no longer supporting Mac OS? I’m none too excited about staying signed-in on Chrome all the time,” tweeted @TonyBoloney5 yesterday.

“I don’t want to use @googlechrome. Facetime online, free no download. That’s why I have a Mac!” added @JustCallMeDanaH.
